Absolutely! We provide each puppy with both one-on-one attention and group interaction to support their social development and promote confidence. From an early age, they are gently introduced to a variety of everyday experiences, including soft and loud sounds, music, television, the vacuum, other dogs, children, car rides, playtime, and the beginnings of potty training—all within a safe, loving home environment.
As they grow, we gradually expand their exposure to new situations. Experiences such as car rides, meeting people outside of our immediate family, and interacting with other household dogs (besides mom and dad) begin after they have been vaccinated to ensure their safety.
Our puppies are truly treated as part of the family until they transition to their new homes.
Our puppies have never had any upper respiratory infections or respiratory issues since birth. In fact, your puppy, his/her littermates, and both parents have remained healthy throughout the entire pregnancy and after delivery, with no signs of illness or infection.
We take extra precautions to maintain their health by keeping the puppies in a separate room that has been properly cleaned and disinfected daily. Only my husband and I handle them, and we always sanitize our hands beforehand and do not allow others to handle them until after 6 weeks of age. Thankfully, these measures have helped us keep them safe and healthy.
To Date, We have never had a puppy sick on our watch! :)
We screen our breeding dogs through Wisdom Panel. This company screens for 270+ genetic disorder risks, including genetic diseases most relevant to the breed. We have a link on each of the parents profile pages so prospective families may review the results prior to purchasing one of our puppies.
Puppies are typically ready to go to their new homes at 8 weeks of age, though we do wait 3 days after any vaccinations to ensure the puppy is healthy to travel. We ensure each puppy is fully weaned, vaccinated wth at least 1st set of shots, dewormed, and well-socialized before leaving.
Puppies receive their first 5-way vaccine at 6 weeks of age. If they remain with us beyond 8 weeks, we continue their vaccination schedule with additional 5-way boosters at 9, 12, and 15 weeks. If a puppy is still with us at 12 weeks, we also administer their first rabies vaccination at that time.
To ensure their safety, we do not allow puppies to go home until at least three days after receiving any vaccines. This allows us to monitor them for any potential reactions and helps ensure they are healthy and comfortable before traveling to their new homes.
Our puppies are not vaccinated until 6 weeks of age. Any medical issues that do arise will be disclosed to the puppy's new family. We will send home a copy of all vet records at pick-up in the Puppy Packet.
Puppies do not receive their first deworming until their 6-week veterinary appointment unless we notice a concern beforehand. We’ve found that administering dewormer too early can lead to adverse side effects, so we prefer to wait unless it’s necessary.
After the initial treatment, deworming is continued every two weeks for as long as the puppy remains with us. The specific medication used is based on our veterinarian’s recommendation. At the 6-week vet visit, a fecal test is performed, allowing the vet to select the most appropriate treatment for anything detected. If nothing is found, a general dewormer is recommended and adminstered.
Common dewormers used in the past include Pyrantel, Toltrazuril, Fenbendazole, Ivermectin, and Safe-Guard Canine Dewormer.
Our puppies have not been started on flea, tick, or heartworm prevention. Our veterinarian does not recommend giving these preventatives to neonates and advises waiting until at least six weeks of age. This is something the puppy’s new family will begin once they bring the puppy home.
We do take preventative measures on our end by having a professional pest control company treat our puppy yard every other month, following their recommendations. The products used are safe for puppies, and we have never experienced an infestation—even with seven dogs in our home.
